about

"going to get water" is an incidental / side-recording made during Ordinary Affects' residency at Hewnoaks in Maine, summer 2022. Nighttime, rainy, a bit of downtime between rehearsing pieces after dinner, James goes to the main cabin to get some drinking water for us (our well was being fixed), I am noodling on guitar a bit, Luke hit record, Francesca says goodnight - and here we are.

The moment, about 8 minutes in total, was a kind of accidental absence you can sink further and further into. Like exhaling without being sure when the next inhale will come, or if you even want it to. Though at the same time you somehow know it will, not because it always has, but because you're with friends.

The 'release' is a very short run of triple cassettes (10). Each is three minutes long (the third has about 1/2 silence) and an endless tape loop.
